A Paradigm Shift Towards Human-Centered, Sustainable and Resilient Production
The concept of "Industry 5.0" marks the next evolution in the industrial revolution, building on the advancements of Industry 4.0. It emphasizes the synergy between humans and machines, moving beyond a reliance on automation and digitalization. Industry 5.0 leverages the unique strengths of both people and technology, viewing technology not as a replacement for human labor but as a tool to enhance employee capabilities. This approach fosters more productive, flexible, and adaptable production processes.
People are deliberately placed at the center of the digital transformation and are therefore included in all design processes for digital systems. Innovation and research are used to integrate sustainability, human- centeredness and resilience into the entire process.
Human-centeredness
The term "human- centered" in the context of Industry 5.0 refers to an approach in which people are at the heart of technological developments and operational decision-making. This means that it is not just about implementing technology to optimize production processes, but also about taking into account the needs, skills and experience of employees and designing technologies accordingly. The aim is to create a culture that values human skills and actively involves employees in the transformation process. This includes training in the use of new technologies and the early involvement of employees in the design processes for implementing these innovative technologies.
